Acupuncture for Geneva (IL)
Geneva is a wonderful city with a distinctive charm of its own. There’s a reason why people travel from all around the region to stroll its streets and take in its comforting scenery.
It’s also a community of people managing life as we all do. Sometimes, life can catch up with us regardless of our age and circumstances. And when that happens, mental or physical strain can develop into conditions or symptoms such as:
- recurring stress
- anxiety
- depression
- headaches
- fatigue
- back pain
- neck pain
- shoulder pain
- digestive issues
- allergies
- dental pain
- hot flashes from menopause
- tinnitus (ringing in the ears)
- joint pain
- fibromyalgia
Whether we’re dealing with aches and pains or steady mental pressures, at some point we need to pause and return to our peaceful selves through greater healing and health.
Here in the West, we often tend to address discomfort with prescriptions and over-the-counter drugs. We may also focus on diet, sleep and exercise.
While these approaches can offer a sense of relief and progress for a time, they don’t always resolve the source of the problem. The issue can return, and once again we may find ourselves looking for ways to manage it.
You don’t have to keep struggling to feel better. A Touch of Ginger supports Geneva residents with Chinese medicine that contributes to well-being from the inside out.
Chinese Medicine for Geneva (IL)
Traditional Chinese medicine is a holistic healthcare system that originated in China and other parts of Asia thousands of years ago. It views the body and mind as an interconnected flow of vital energy along inner pathways referred to as meridians.
The force in the energy flow is qi (chee). When our qi is full and in sync with the body’s inner organs, there is peace and good health. When it is disrupted, and the organs are no longer guided by our qi, mental and physical ailments can start to develop.
Chinese medicine for restoring the proper balance of qi can include treatments such as:
- acupuncture
- herbal treatments
- moxibustion
- cupping
- gua sha
- auricular acupuncture
- massage
- focus and movement exercises
A Touch of Ginger works with Geneva residents in creating a personal plan for pain management that applies Chinese medicine according to the individual.
Acupuncture for Geneva (IL)
Your plan can include consistent, affordable acupuncture treatments that offer a holistic, natural way to manage pain by resolving discomfort at the source.
The body’s meridians have their start and end points – more than 300 in all – on the head, hands and feet. Patient-centered acupuncture by A Touch of Ginger uses very fine needles on the skin’s surface to stimulate specific acupuncture points (acupoints) that correspond with a particular ailment. This frees the movement of blocked qi so it is free to flow for positive health.
Acupuncture by A Touch of Ginger contributes to an enhanced quality of life for Geneva residents of any age from infants to seniors.
Does Acupuncture for Geneva (IL) Hurt?
Each person who receives acupuncture might describe a certain sensation, and the descriptions often differ. What’s important to note is that acupuncture does not hurt.
You might notice a quick, gentle poke when the needle is inserted. Beyond that split second, what follows may be unique to you. Some patients say they feel nothing. Others tell of a gentle pressure, tingling or aching, all of which fade quickly.
Geneva (IL): Community Acupuncture
If you would like to enjoy the benefits of acupuncture with others, A Touch of Ginger offers community acupuncture for up to six people.
When you participate in community acupuncture with us, you and your group receive your ailment-specific treatments in zero-gravity chairs in an open room created for relaxation and comfort.
New Geneva Patients
New patients or those who haven’t received acupuncture with us in the last six months will begin their community sessions with a 90-minute one-on-one consultation. We’ll review your current health and define your diagnosis according to Chinese medicine.
Active Geneva Patients
If you’re already active with acupuncture at A Touch of Ginger, you can transition directly to group sessions without a first consultation.
Each community acupuncture session will start with a brief review of your symptoms. Your acupuncturist will follow the updates by inserting your specific needles. You will then rest with them for about 30 to 40 minutes. Your acupuncture as performed by our certified, licensed practitioners is safe and sanitary.
Although you will share a room with others, the zero-gravity chairs are comfortably spaced from one another. You likely will not hear much noise or talking from the other treatments near you.
We include soft music and a white-noise machine to soothe and relax you further as well.
Modalities & Herbal Medicine for Geneva (IL)
Beyond acupuncture, a personal pain-management plan might include other Chinese-medicine modalities such as:
cupping. A pneumatic device in a cup creates suction that pulls up the skin, muscle, lymph fluids, blood and fascia. This draws deeply stagnated body fluids and qi to the surface, allowing the body to dispel them. It also brings fresh and nourishing oxygenated blood to the treatment area to heal tissues and improve circulation.
gua sha. Grapeseed oil is applied to the skin and a jade stone is rubbed briskly back and forth over the affected area. During this process, the practitioner is looking for sha, which presents as red, purple or pink color on the skin to show that energy is transferring from stagnation to movement again.
auricular acupuncture. Very small needles stimulate acupoints on the external ear surface. This promotes healing in other areas of the body. Just a few conditions that can be treated include pain, dental issues and emotional imbalances.
We also develop herbal formulas for Geneva patients according to the presentation of symptoms.
During an initial consultation, the herbalist will feel your pulses on both wrists, view your tongue and palpate your abdomen. With the information gathered, the herbalist then will select a formula specific to your needs.
Our herbal pharmacy includes premium-granule extracts from Legendary Herbs. Their supplier, Tianjiang Pharmaceutical, was China’s first GMP-certified granule facility.
